St. Joseph-Ogden head football coach Shawn Skinner shares a big smile with assistant coach Nick Bialeschki before the opening kickoff between his Spartans and visiting Saints from Central Catholic. About two and half hours later, Skinner had an even better reason to smile with the homecoming win in the books and the program record improving to 3-3 on the season. "Defense was phenomenal from the very beginning," said Skinner, who pointed to the tenacity of his defensive backs and their attention to detail. SJO picked off two passes, one that was returned 100 yards for a TD in the second quarter. "We had a good scouting report, but our kids had to execute it and they were fabulous."

SJO's Jones, Miller win, Tigers prevail at quad meet

The Urbana wresting team picked up a team victory after defeating St. Joseph-Ogden 24-33 at a four-school meet at LeRoy on Saturday morning.

Spartans' Quincy Jones won his 220-pound match against Tigers' Armando Rodriquez and SJO senior Conrad Miller stunned Tigers' Paul Collins with a lightning-quick 22 second pin at 160 pounds.

Urbana notched a decision from Leo Dougan wrestling at 145 over SJO's Matt Falls.

There were four double-forfeits and a total of ten team forfeits at different weight classes.

Sixty-five members of the freshman class at St. Joseph-Ogden High School earn honor roll recognition during the second quarter. Forty-one of them earned High Honor Roll status.

166 make 2nd quarter High Honor Roll at SJO

Yesterday, St. Joseph-Ogden High School announced the school's second quarter honor roll receipents. This quarter, 166 students earned High Honor Roll recognition for their academic efforts. Forty-five students in both the sophomore and junior classes secured a GPA above the requisite 3.74.

An additional 77 students who earned grade point average of 3.25 or higher on the school's 4.0 scale also made the honor roll.
