Jaylen Torres wins second match at state, defeats defending state champion in the consolation round

CHAMPAIGN - St. Francis's Jaylen Torres (30-3) fends off an attack from Althoff Catholic's Jason Dowell (31-2) in their Class 1A 285-pound consolation second-round match at the IHSA Individual Wrestling State Finals on Friday. Torres, who was runner up in 2024 and the #2 seed this year, went on to win the match by pin eliminating last year's state champion from this year's tournament.
