Spartans finish seventh at Champaign County Golf Tournament

Mahomet-Seymour won the team championship with a 304, followed by Champaign Central at 308. Mahomet-Seymour's junior varsity squad finished third with a 319. Garrett Loschen led the Spartans with an 81, tying for 18th place individually.

RANTOUL - Against a field featuring the county's top golfers, Garrett Loschen paced St. Joseph-Ogden with an 81 and a tie for 18th place as the Spartans finished seventh Friday at the Champaign County High School Golf Tournament.

The Spartans posted a team score of 354 in the annual tournament, which featured golfers from across Champaign County.

Loschen's 81 put him in a four-way tie for 18th place in the individual standings. He was the top finisher for the Spartans.

SJO also counted scores from Calvin Clem, who finished with a 90; Noah Resendiz, who shot an 89; Colan Gill, who carded a 94; and Finn Miller, who finished with a 96. Tripp Palmer added a 98.

Mahomet-Seymour captured the team championship with a 304, followed by Champaign Central at 308. Mahomet-Seymour's junior varsity team finished third with a 319.

Rantoul/Paxton-Buckley-Loda, St. Thomas, Centennial and Urbana also competed in the tournament.

Central's Max Clausen claimed individual medalist honors with a 74. Bulldogs' Tyler Schoudel finished second with a 75.

Liam Kaiser of Mahomet-Seymour's junior varsity squad shot a 76 and finished in a five-way tie for third with Central's Jeremy McCoy, St. Thomas More's Tyler Clarkson and Mahomet-Seymour varsity teammates Miles Rasche and Owen Henry.

All seven golfers earned All-County honors for their performances.
