Tigers slip by Sabers, Lleras tips scale with marathon win

Urbana's Santi Lleras lines up a two-handed backhand during first-set action against St. Thomas More's Wyatt Kirby during their non-conference match at Blair Park. Lleras prevailed in the close three-set match over Kirby that lasted just over two hours, 5-7, 7-6 (5), 10-8. The Tigers went on to win the dual match 5-4 on Monday. Chargers notch home win over Sabers

CHAMPAIGN - St. Thomas More goalkeeper Keagan Markun makes a save during last Monday's road game at Centennial. The Sabers (3-4-1), who fell 4-1 to the Chargers, bounced back a day later picking up a 1-0 win on their home pitch over the visiting Danville Vikings. Spartans surprised by Sabers on the road
Sophomore Jordan Hartman tries to fight his way into the St. Thomas More backfield for the Spartans in their 2011 Sangamon Valley Conference road game on September 30. St. Joseph-Ogden fell 14-12 in a thriller to the Sabers. After winning the next three games to finish the regular season playoff eligible with 6 wins and three losses, Hartman and Spartans made an early departure after falling to Monticello on their home turf, 42-14.
