The virus can enter through a person’s eyes, nose, mouth or via inhalation.” She added that there have not been any reported infections from ingestion of properly cooked poultry or pasteurized milk but pointed out that improper handling of raw poultry products or ingestion of undercooked meat or unpasteurized milk could result in infection in humans as well as pets.
